EdTech U is at the Library for Fall 2015!

EdTech U is an opportunity for instructors to gain some hands-on assistance with any educational technology supported by EdTech.

Attending EdTech U will also enter you in a raffle, the winner of which will be drawn at the end of each semester.

Hours of Operation: 1 – 4 p.m. on First Thursday of Every Month

Location: Curtis Laws Wilson Library, First Floor, next to Walk-in Center

Have you ever wanted to learn:

  • how to capture a live class lecture?
  • new ways of using clickers?
  • how to use the tools in Blackboard or Canvas to maximize learning effectiveness?
  • how to make a video or screencast?
  • more about the instructional design process? Especially for online or blended courses?
  • tips & tricks for using Office or a browser?

Do you always forget:

  • how to upload content to a learning management system? (Blackboard or Canvas)
  • how to submit your grades?
  • how to copy items from one course to another in the learning management system? (Blackboard or Canvas)
  • how to quickly check to see if student clickers are working?
  • how to design a course for maximum pedagogical effectiveness?

Come find the answers to these questions and much, much more! Stay for 15 minutes, or stay for an hour!

If you plan on coming to EdTech U, please bring some specific task you hope to accomplish. When you are done, you will take away a completed task (or we will at least have you well on your way to completing it!).

We will answer one question or a hundred questions! Come learn something new!

EdTech U Open House on THURSDAY, JANUARY 16, in IDE Room 105!

EdTechU-logo-2-thumb-250x162-27701Educational Technology will be hosting an extended session of EdTech U on Thursday, January 16, from 1 to 4 p.m. in Interdisciplinary Engineering (IDE) Room 105.

This is an opportunity for instructors to get some last-minute assistance in preparing their courses for Spring 2014. EdTech staff will be on hand to answer questions and provide support for Blackboard, clickers/TurningPoint, Tegrity, and any other technologies that we support.

Attendees will also be entered into the semester-long raffle for a prize to be drawn at the end of the semester.

EdTech will continue to host EdTech U on Thursdays during the semester (excluding St. Pat’s and Spring Break) from 2 to 4 p.m. in IDE 105.

EdTech U Prize Winner – Lian Duan

Congratulations to Dr. Lian Duan, Assistant Professor of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, for winning a Kindle Fire HD for attending EdTech U in Fall 2013! Dr. Duan is one of our newest faculty on campus, only arriving here in August 2013.

EdTech U will be offered in Interdiscplinary Engineering (IDE) Room 105 from 2 – 4 p.m. on Thursdays, instead of from noon – 2 p.m. It is generally available during the semester every week when classes are in session.

iPad U is offered on the first Thursday of the month when classes are in session from 2 – 3 p.m. in IDE room 104 (Faculty Center).

A special session of EdTech U will be offered on Thursday, January 16, from 1 – 3 p.m. (extended hours) to aid instructors in preparing for Spring 2014 courses.

REMINDER: iPad U and EdTech U on Thursday, October 3rd

icon-iPadUEducational Technology will be hosting iPad U and EdTech U on Thursday, October 3.

iPad U is a special session of EdTech U where EdTech staff and iPad users share ways to use the iPad to enhance teaching and learning. During iPad U, we encourage you to experiment with apps to discover their full potential. This month, Apple representative Josie Lollie will be available to answer questions and demonstrate new apps. iPad U takes place on the first Thursday of the month in IDE Room 104 from noon to 1 p.m. Bring your lunch!

EdTech U is where EdTech staff are available to answer questions about Blackboard, clickers/TurningPoint, and other technologies, as well as how to introduce the technology effectively to support learning in the classroom. EdTech U takes place every Thursday during the semester in IDE Room 105 (CLC) from noon to 2 p.m.
