IT will be performing Blackboard maintenance on Sunday, September 20, 2015, starting at midnight.

Blackboard will be unavailable for approximately 4 hours between midnight and to 6:00 a.m. on Sunday, September 20.

Blackboard Services Restored

Blackboard is back to normal. Thanks for your patience as we worked through the reboot today.

Instructors and TAs no longer able to manually enroll users in courses.

Instructors and teaching assistants must now request that the Registrar add new users with instructor and/or teaching assistant roles. All requests to add users in these roles will now be completed by the Registrar’s office. This policy has been changed to mirror existing Registrar policy regarding student enrollments. This policy change is intended to protect student and instructor confidentiality, adhere to FERPA regulations, and maintain Registrar accountability regarding university electronic teaching resources.

If you have any questions or require assistance adding another instructor or a teaching assistant to your Canvas or Blackboard course, please contact the Registrar’s office.

TurningPoint Cloud Services Restored

turningpoint_cloud_upTurningPoint Cloud account services appear to be restored for the time being. However, it is possible for services to be intermittent for several hours until all required emergency maintenance has been performed.

EdTech will continue to monitor the situation.

TurningPoint Cloud Account Page is Down

turningpoint_cloud_downTurning Technologies’ account page is currently unavailable to students and faculty today, Monday, August 24, 2015. Servers are overloaded with requests and the website isn’t responding to user attempts to login.

As a result, students are unable to register their devices or create new accounts (or both). Faculty are unable to access their TurningPoint slides in the classroom, load participant lists, or manage a session.

Turning Technologies is working on a solution and hopes to have their servers up and running again soon. Please be patient.

We’ll send out an update once services have returned to normal.

Blackboard Back to Normal (mostly)

We are seeing a few lingering effects from last week’s Blackboard problems, but they are being dealt with on a case-by-case at this time and are NOT part of any continuing problems with Blackboard.

Reminder to Instructors: Back Up Your Important Blackboard Course Content!

As the halcyon days of preserving all your hardcopy teaching materials in a big metal file cabinet draw to a close, the need for stable (i.e. redundant) digital record-keeping increases. Take control of your own destiny and make a local backup copy of your most important Blackboard course content. It’s quick, easy, and helps you preserve your valuable teaching-related academic work. It’s your intellectual property, and you should have a stake in preserving your own copy of it. There are a number of good reasons to do so; in the future you may want to document your growth as an instructor, your career may take you elsewhere, LMS software may change, and it’s even possible the network data center could be struck by a freak tornado/lightning storm combination!

Follow this short visual tutorial to make a backup of your course content, and exert some digital ownership of your teaching materials.

Tegrity will be undergoing maintenance on Sunday, March 1st from 1:00AM-5:00AM

The Tegrity lecture capture software will be unavailable for a short period this Sunday while undergoing a software maintenance process. This maintenance is expected to solve the browser permission issues resulting from the most recent Tegrity update. Tegrity is the only service to be affected; Blackboard and Canvas services will be unaffected.

Fall Semester 2014 Blackboard Courses Become Unavailable on Friday, February 6th, 2015

IT and Educational Technology will make Blackboard courses for Fall Semester 2014 “unavailable” to students at 3:00PM on Friday, February 6th, 2015.

Fall Semester 2014 courses will still be visible to instructors, but students will no longer see the courses.
